Major changes and additions in Alpha 4.0

Alpha 4.0 brought some more changes to key bindings. Given the vast amount of keybinds this article is still being updated.

Starmap routes can be cancelled now with C.

Capital ships like the Polaris now have Predicted Course Pathing which can be disabled in the MDF HUD options.

Decoupled Mode Toggle is now HOLD C (Previously just C).

Lock Pitch & Yaw changed to RIGHT SHIFT (HOLD) - (Previously just TAP RIGHT SHIFT)

New Advanced Hud key bindings for Enable, Disable and Toggle – None are bound by default.

Auto Targeting Toggle added – T (HOLD)

FPS Combat Helmets can now detect player and NPC bodies - TAB (HOLD)

IMPORTANT - Speed when landing gear down reduced to 30 m/s. To Disable this speed restriction go to Keybindings -> Flight Movement -> Automatic Precision Mode (Toggle, Disable and Enable). Additionally, you will want to set Proximity Assist Off to a keybind (Options → Keybinds → Advanced → Flight Movement).

INVENTORY - Access to local inventory by pressing I has been removed. In game storage access kiosks and freight elevators can now be used to access local items.

MFDs can now be cycled and set as well as cast. See MFD Key Bindings

Jump Point Instructions and Key Bindings

  1. Make sure you are in NAV Mode as you approach the jump point
  2. Head to the last section of the holographic sections of the gates before the wormhole
  3. Make sure you have all the green bars in your HUD
  4. If jump point asks you to activate LEFT CLICK to activate jump gate
  5. The jump gate will pull you in automatically when it is your turn to jump

Jump Drive Module Info

Ships with quantum drives in Alpha 4.0 also come with Jump Drives equipped. If you change your ship’s Quantum Drive in Alpha 4.0 you will also need to replace the Jump Drive module if you want to be able to Jump through Jump Points back and forth from Stanton to Pyro and back.

Multi-Tool Changes in Alpha 3.24.2

GAMEPAD USERS

You can use the gamepad to navigate elevator buttons and select floors. HOLD RIGHT BUMPER to enter interaction mode then either TAP RIGHT BUMPER or select using thumbstick and PRESS A to select floor.

Issues and workarounds:

  • Quantum drive can fail jumping, if that happens, bring the engines off via the MFD and then on again and Quantum Drive will work again.
  • Speed limiter will revert constantly so you will need to constantly bring it back to max - LEFT ALT + SCROLL MOUSE WHEEL.
  • HOTAS Inversion Fix - If your throttle is inverted you can fix this via the menu settings- Controls - Joystick 2 (For HOTAS users) and see the throttle inversion setting to Yes. This will make it so that it starts off inverted by default.

All controls and key mappings can be found in game by accessing your options menu (press ESC) and looking for the Key Bindings tab. The same options allow you to rebind your keyboard layout and gamepad controller settings as you prefer.
