  • Alpha 3.15 Bug Workarounds & Troubleshooting

Alpha 3.15 Bug Workarounds & Troubleshooting

Having issues with Star Citizen Alpha 3.15?

    Workarounds & Troubleshooting

This articles offers some solutions to the major issues players can find when testing Star Citizen Alpha 3.15.

This is by no means a complete list. Only some issues are listed.

Character cannot get out of bed

    Issue:

If you have logged out in the bed but then upon login you cannot get out of bed when holding “Y” key (exit bed key).

Changing servers keeps putting you back into the same bad.

Holding interaction key (“F”) provides no “Exit bed” option (only Log out).

    Solution:

    • Go back to the menu
    • Change your character in the customer customization menu (modify the head or change sex)
    • Rejoin the game and select a different server to your region (USA, AUS, EU)

You should now spawn at a station or planet. If this has not worked, keep trying the above steps. Sometimes it can take a few tries.

    Final Solution:

If this still does not work perform a character reset .

Character cannot get out of seat

    Issue:

You got into a seat but now cannot get out when holding “Y” key (exit seat key).

Holding interaction key (“F”) provides no “Exit seat” option.

    Solution:

    • Go back to the menu
    • Rejoin the game in the same server if you can

You should now either appear at a station or city of your last spawn or in the seat again but this time able to get out. If you are in the same server you can return to your ship’s location.

    Final Solution:

If this still does not work exit to menu and change server region (US, EU, AU). Your ship should also be available at your location.

    Cannot see nav markers

Issue: Cannot see nav makers, player markers or mission markers.

Navigational markers are missing while playing the game. The quantum destinations are missing. Party members markers are missing. Mission markers are missing.

    Solution:

Check your character’s head. Do this by going 3rd person and removing your helmet. If your character’s head is missing this explains why you are not seeing the markers.

    To fix this issue:

    • Go to menu
    • Open the Character Customization
    • Change your head features and / or sex and save
    • Relaunch the Persistent Universe

This may take a few tries but will work. Once you have spawned with a head all your nav markers will be back!

    Final Solution:

If this still does not work perform a character reset .

    Cannot jump to destination

    Issue:

You want to quantum jump to a destination but you are getting the “obstructed” message or can see the nav markers but not the destination marker.

    Solution:

There are navigational issues which prevent from tracing a path the destination and often the routing will not figure out the navs to assign to the complete route around any objects.

    If your destination shows obstructed:

Fly around or past any points of interest such as space stations. Make sufficient distance to clear the jump path from any asteroids, ships or other objects.

If you are too close to a planet’s or moon’s surface you will also not be able to jump. In this case get sufficient altitude (varies by astral object).

If your destination does not appear as a marker:

Pull up your StarMap (F2). Click on CLEAR ROUTE. Select another destination around the object that is in direct line. Jump there first. See if from the new destination you can now set the correct final destination.

Use OM1 and OM2 markers located at the poles of planets and moons to easier navigate.

    Solution 2:

If your ship still cannot jump and you think everything should be ok. Then try the following:

    • Press U to turn off the ship
    • Exit the seat
    • Reenter the seat
    • Turn the ship back on
    • Try to quantum again

This should reset the systems and allow you to jump assuming you are not still obstructed.

    Character has no head

    Issue:

    Character is missing head.

    Solution:

    • Go to the game menu
    • Go to character customization
    • Change and save character appearance
    • Relaunch

This might take several tries and may even require a sex change but works quite reliably.

    Final Solution:

If this still does not work perform a character reset .

    Cannot see mission marker

    Issue:

You have accepted a mission but you cannot see the mission marker waypoint in your hud.

    Solution:

    • Open your mobiGlas and go to Contracts Manager
    • Go to the accepted missions tab
    • Click Track if the mission is not tracked, if not click Untrack then Track.

This should restore the missing marker.

Note: This solution doesn’t work all the time.

    Cannot equip armor

    Issue:

    You cannot equip armor.

    Solution:

    • First put on a flight suit

This should enable you to put on armor. You cannot equip armor in Alpha 3.15 over regular clothes or no clothes, a flight suit is required.

    Ship stuck in landing pad

    Issue:

Your ship is partially stuck into the landing pad. Part of the ship such as the landing gear or fuselage is clipping through the floor of the landing pad. The ship cannot take off.

    Solution:

    • Wait. Stay by your ship and wait for about 2 minutes. The ship will shake and pop into position.

    Solution 2:

    • Return to the ship spawning terminal. Spawn another ship or try the same ship again.

Ships spawning with parts into the landing pad is an issue and could be for some time to come. Generally waiting or respawning the ship will work. Changing server regions might help also.

    Eyes Missing

    Issue:

Your character is missing eyes. Many things don’t work such as mobiGlas and inventory.

    Solution:

Change your appearance in the character customization screen and save. Relaunch the persistent universe and your eyes should be back

    Solution 2:

If changing appearance doesn’t work to fix the eyes missing, then go to Arena Commander and launch a Free Flight. Relaunch the persistent universe.

    Final Solution:

If this still does not work perform a character reset .

    Going into water causes death

    Issue:

Going into water causes the player character to die.

    Solution:

Stay away from water. Water physics such as swimming or ship floating are not in yet.

Cannot equip components and / or weapons on ship

    Issue:

When trying to change a ship loadout the ship is not in the list.

    Solution:

Ships can only be modified from the same location they are stored.

    • Make sure that your ship is available and not destroyed or unknown
    • Make sure you are at the same location as the ship
    • This should allow you to edit your ship’s loadout

Be sure to claim the ship if necessary. This will rest the ship’s location and loadout removing any damage or items stored in the ship.

    Ship unstable when landing

    Issue:

Trying to land the ship seems very unstable.

    Solution:

Turn off proximity assist. Proximity assist might be causing your ship to do strange things near landing pads.

    • Go to menu (ESC)
    • Scroll down and look for Flight – Proximity Assist Defaults On
    • Turn off

    Inventory is missing

    Issue:

You have stored items in your inventory but they are missing.

    Solution:

It is possible that your inventory filter is set.

    Solution 2:

Local inventory and ship inventory are different. Sometimes storing items at outposts or stations may occur instead of in the personal inventory. Travel to the location and check the local inventory for your items. This can also happen with ships.

    Elevator is missing

    Issue:

The elevator in your building is missing.

    Solution:

Turn around and walk away from the elevator.

    • Walk as far down the hallway away from the elevator as you can
    • Wait a while
    • Return to the elevator
    • The elevator should now appear

    Solution 2:

Change server by relaunching Star Citizen and changing region (EU, US, AU).

2 – Check the system requirements

To get the most out of your Invictus Launch Week Free Fly event you will want to make sure your computer can handle Star Citizen. It is an advanced MMO universe under construction therefore the system requirements are quite steep. Even if your computer can handle other games Star Citizen can be very demanding on system resources.

CIG games including Star Citizen and Squadron 42 have the following minimum requirements. CIG strongly recommend having a system with these minimums to effectively install, load, and play the games.

    • Windows 7 (64bit) with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 (64bit), Windows 10 – Anniversary Update (64bit)
    • DirectX 11 Graphics Card with 4GB RAM

    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/download

4 – What you need to know before you start

Anyone wishing to try Star Citizen for free can download and play for free during the event.

Each day from Friday 22nd May 2020 to the 29th May 2020 a different manufacturer will have its ships available for free flight. Given time constraints players should research which ships they want to test as time may not permit to test all of them. From May 30th to June 1st 2020 it’s possible players could have access to surprise ships or others.

    9 – Invictus Event Questions & Answers

Can I play if I don’t own Star Citizen?

Yes! For the duration of the event you will have access to the game just like someone who has spent real money on it.

Do I get to keep my progress if I return?

No. Star Citizen is currently in Alpha testing. This means that in all likelihood your progress will be wiped at some point in the future. In general it is a bad idea to grind progress in Star Citizen at this time.

    What is Invictus?

“Invictus Launch Week, also commonly known as Fleet Week, is the period between Emancipation Day and Armistice Day that marks the beginning of the new recruitment year for the UEE Navy.

In addition to high-flying public demonstrations from the naval fleet, the galaxy’s top vehicle manufacturers often utilize the festivities to showcase the ships and armament they supply to the military. This year, official proceedings will be held at Area18, ArcCorp, with spacecraft showcases at the Bevic Convention Center and a special demonstration by the 999th Squadron.

During Invictus Launch Week, everyone has the opportunity to see some of the verse’s biggest, best, and most iconic ships up close. Different manufacturers take over every other day, so keep checking back to be inspired by everything the event has to offer.

Most ships on display are available to test-fly for free, so just select the ship you want, and take to the skies.

Check out the schedule below to plan your test flights. Have fun and fly safe!”

  • Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 New Player Guide

Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 New Player Guide

    Who is this guide for?

This guide is intended for players who need help starting out with testing Star Citizen Alpha 3.9. Returning players from older builds may also find some of this content useful. This article services to provide a general overview of Alpha 3.9.

Start with a player guide (assistance)

Players who need assistance starting their adventure can find a player guide (someone who will show you around) on the official Star Citizen Spectrum Guide

    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/guide

    Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 Launcher

The New Launcher Version 1.4.1 is required for Star Citizen PTU and Live.

To check if your launcher is the latest version (v.1.4.1) open the Star Citizen Launcher and check the version in the bottom right.

Steps to upgrading to the new launcher (for a fresh install go straight to step 2):

    1. Uninstall the old RSI Launcher (not the game just the launcher)
    2. Install the new Launcher you downloaded from the official RSI website.

    Learning To Fly

Start with the new official Getting Started Guide (May 2020) from RSI.

Then view the Official How To Fly guide from RSI.

    Keys to learning to fly:

    • Start off practicing in Arena Commander Free Flight Mode (Single player or Multi Player)
    • Practice in the Arena Commander Racing modes Single Player

Once you have a general feel of how to take off and fly around you are ready for the Persistent Universe.

    Landing Information

Landing on landing pads and in hangars requires that pilots first request landing permission. This can be done via the ship’s Multi-Function Display (MFD) panels (Hold F and click to interact) or by opening the contacts list in MobiGlas (F11).

If you have a CrimeStat landing permission will be denied at many locations in Stanton. Landing without requesting permission on a pad or hangar will incur fines and possibly a crime rating.

    Landing Steps:

    1. Approach station / spaceport
    2. Go to Comms (Ship MFD) or Open Mobiglas Comms (F11) and Request Landing Permission
    3. Land at assigned pad

    Content in Alpha 3.9

Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 offers significant amounts of gameplay while still only being a tiny fraction of what is eventually planned for Star Citizen. While the final vision describes hundreds of star systems to explore the current Alpha takes place in the Stanton System only. Even so, this offers testers with more gameplay than many released games, not to mention one of the biggest seamless play areas of any multiplayer game.

Despite the bugs caused by the game still being under construction, many hours of entertainment can be had and Alpha 3.9 expands the playable scope further. The amount of things to do in game is too long for a full list for the purpose of this article but here are some of the options. Even though credits are reset periodically during Star Citizen Alpha, it can still be fun to see how much can be accumulated before each reset.

    • Playtesting the various missions in game from bounty hunting to cargo delivery
    • Sandbox in game money making gameplay testing (see below)
    • Sandbox in game events created by orgs or streamers
    • Exploring (although there’s not much to find)
    • Piracy (very basic)
    • Racing ships

    Making Money In Alpha 3.9

There are several ways that players can earn in game credits (aUEC) while play testing Star Citizen Alpha.

Since Star Citizen is a sandbox game it is possibly to earn your way without using any of the scripted on-rails missions.

Let’s look at some of the ways to make money in Star Citizen Alpha 3.9:

    Scripted missions:

    • Cargo Delivery
    • Investigation
    • Combat (pirate or merc)
    • Maintenance
    • Prison Transport Operation
    • Bunker Missions
    • Ship combat missions
    • Others

    Sandbox ways to make money:

    • Mining
    • Harvesting
    • Cargo running
    • Theft and sale of illicit goods at mission outposts
    • Space taxi driver
    • Bounty hunting

Read Star Citizen Easy Money Making Guide for Beginners

The most profitable missions for beginners are cargo delivery or combat assistance. This is where choosing the Starter Ship that is best for you is important. Read the Getting Started – Buying A Game Package article or check the list of Best Ships in Star Citizen.

    Law System in Alpha 3.9

Alpha 3.6 brought with it the Law System and each area of space has different legal rules players must comply with or risk the consequences.

    Jurisdictions available in Alpha 3.9:

    • Crusader Industries
    • UEE
    • People’s Alliance (Levski)*
    • Hurston Dynamics
    • Microtech
    • ArcCorp

*About Levksi: Levski is supposed to be located in the Nyx system which is several jumps away from Stanton system. As of Alpha 3.9 Levski (Delamar) is still temporarily in Stanton system for testing.

    Breaking laws

Noncompliance with the different laws can have ranging consequences from small fines deducted automatically from your in-game aUEC balance to severe crime rating increases.

Having any crime rating can seriously affect which areas of the game you have access to. For example, even a level 1 crime rating will revoke landing permission at UEE ports in Stanton system.

Players can receive crime ratings for things like shooting players without the appropriate bounty contracts or hostile tag, ramming other ships on pads, parking illegally on landing pads (can happen if landing without requesting permission first).

Players can also be interdicted by security patrols while traveling. This means that if illicit cargo is found on board crime stat will also be issued.

    Prison – New in 3.9!

Alpha 3.9 introduces Klescher prison. Players with CrimeStat who are killed or die in lawful jurisdictions or by bounty hunters will wake up in Prison.

Players have several ways to get out of prison:

    • Complete the prison sentence – time served
    • Reduce prison sentence via mining of minerals
    • Escape

    Klescher Prison Map

Removing Crime Rating in Alpha 3.9

Gaining a crime rating can happen very easily for new players. Since a criminal rating even as low as 1 can influence what pads players can land on and the availability of missions it is extremely important for new players to know how to clear their rating.

The following methods can be used in Alpha 3.9 to reset your rating:

    • Hacking a UEE terminal to reset the archive
    • Serving your sentence in prison
    • Paying your fines – if your CrimeStat is low enough

Black Market Economy in Alpha 3.9

One of the sandbox ways of making money is to run cargo of illicit goods. Illicit goods can be found at many outposts. Websites to find ideal cargo routes can be found on the Star Citizen Resources page.

Players can take missions to the secret drug labs and then remember the location via triangulation of waypoints.

Black Market Economy is recommended for advanced players and not for beginners.

    Logging Out And Persistence

    Logging Out

Star Citizen automatically stores the player’s spawn point when landing at major space ports. The last visited major landing port will be where the player respawns when resuming from a previous play session.

It is also possible to use ship beds as spawn points. Logging out in a ship’s bed will allow players to continue where they left off for the next play session.

For the location spawn point to be stored a player must land at the station on a pad. This does not work for outposts.

    Bed Logout

Ships with beds allow players to log out and upon reloading the game they will find themselves in their ship.

    Persistence of Items

Between sessions not everything persists as of Alpha 3.9. Things that do not persist:

    • Small arms gained in FPS combat from NPCs or players
    • Missions accepted via the MobiGlas will also not resume upon loading

    This that persist:

    • Weapons, armor and items purchased (including consumables like food or water)
    • Player reputation
    • Account balance
    • Ships or components purchased in game

Making Money Easily – Star Citizen Money Guide

How to make money in Star Citizen the easy way

This guide is aimed for starting players looking to easily make money in Star Citizen. It is broken down primarily by ship.

    Valid up to Alpha 3.17

    Disclaimer

This guide does not take into consideration bugs from patches which might interfere with certain ships ability to earn an easy income by the methods discussed in this guide. This guide assumes “normal” ship operability and average Persistent Universe stability.

Making Money (aUEC) Without A Ship

There are a several possible ways players can make money without having access to a ship in Star Citizen. Some ships in Star Citizen do not have quantum drives making them almost as effective as not having a ship when it comes to money making in Star Citizen Alpha. These money making methods apply to players who cannot quantum but still need to earn money in Star Citizen Alpha.

Ask to take part in shared missions

The easiest way to make Star Citizen currency in game is to ask players in the chat to share a mission with you and help you earn money as a new player. This could end up in the adventure of a gaming lifetime so this is the first thing you should try when trying to earn money without a ship.

Dangers: It could be a trap.

    Hand Mining

To make money mining by hand you will require the following items:

    • Rucksack (To store the mined material)
    • Multi-tool
    • Orbig Mining Attachment

In Game Availability of Hand Mining Parts

Hand mining requires a multi-tool and mining attachment. Also useful is a spacesuit with inventory such as the Rucksack.

Prices for the equipment vary but are about:

    • Mining-tool – 500 aUEC
    • Mining-attachment – 350 aUEC
    • Rucksack – 3000 aUEC

    Mining without a Ship

If you don’t have a ship you can fly to the caves to mine you can ask players in chat to take you to the entrance of a cave for hand mining. Generally, you will find someone after a while that will offer to take you.

Once at the cave you will find mining deposits that you will be able to mine provided you have the above mentioned items equipped.

Payouts can be worth thousands of aUEC so hand mining can be profitable albeit grindy and often dangerous.

Dangers: You could be killed in the cave by other players or NPCs and lose your mined goods as well as your mining multi-tool and attachment.

    Where to buy mining parts

As of Alpha 3.17 mining parts can be found also at refinery stations as well as previous locations. This means that hand mining equipment is available at many locations. To find items in Alpha 3.17 please use an item finder.

Search for Missing Person In Cave Missions

Combine your mining in caves with the Missing Persons game-generated missions for extra money.

Dangers: You could get lost in the caves searching for the body.

    Game Generated Missions

By opening MobiGlas there are available different types of missions. Some missions will ask you to locate missing people or even activate disabled comm arrays. These missions will sometimes pay well but can be hard to figure out and complete. When all else fails, these types of missions are easy ways to make money and other players can take you to the locations if needed.

Dangers: You could get frustrated trying to finish some missions.

    Bunker Missions

First Person Shooter players can go on missions to clear bunkers or space stations of NPCs. Ask in chat for people looking for more players to go on bunker missions. It shouldn’t take long to find a crew!

Dangers: You might get killed and will have to respawn far away.

    Asking for money

If you really have hit rock bottom in Star Citizen then perhaps it is worth trying to simply ask for money. Players during Alpha amass large amounts of credits and are often happy to help someone out by sharing their wealth.

Dangers: You could lose your pride.

    Starter Ships Under $100

    Aurora (MR, ES, LN, LX)

The Auroras can easily make money via delivery box runs as well as with combat.

    Delivery Missions

Delivery box missions are a good source of cash. Some missions overlap at delivery locations so players can take multiple boxes and increase their earnings. Always check your routes and missions before you start to maximize easy profit!

    Dangers: Your own greed.

    Call To Arms / Combat

The Auroras can handle some combat, enough so that taking the easy missions might be able to generate some income. If you have missiles just remember that they cost money to restock.

Dangers: Your life (Respawn / Reclaim time).

    Aurora CL

The Auroras CL is the cargo runner of the Aurora series and as such it can make decent money even compared to larger ships.

    Delivery Missions & Trade Runs

Combine cargo running with delivery missions. Check your Mobiglas for the Delivery run routes and check your trading lanes with the latest trading apps on the Star Citizen Resources page.

Dangers: Your cargo investment and time.

    Mustang Alpha

The Mustang Alpha is designed to be a starting money maker. It can do a little combat as well as trade cargo. It is also a fast ship meaning your time to travel will be much shorter. The real money maker for the Mustang Alpha however is:

    Combat

The Mustang Alpha can equip 4 weapons and no missiles. Due to its great maneuverability it can do decently well in combat. Take the Call to Arms missions for extra money. Test your skills as a combat pilot!

Dangers: You could die in combat.

    Cargo Running

The Mustang Alpha can do trade runs and generate a little income. For players who are not suited to combat this is one option to make easy money.

Dangers: You could lose your investment.

    Game Generated Missions

Players with this ship should also look into the missions generated in game such as ECN or Private Investigation missions. While not a great option the investment is zero, besides your time, that is.

Dangers: You might fail the mission and waste your time.

    Mustang Gamma and Omega

Racers at this time have basically the same options as players without a ship. The difference being your racer can get you to the mission quickly.

See Making Money Without A Ship

Dangers: If you wanted to make money fast and easy you shouldn’t have bought a racing ship.

    Mustang Beta

The Mustang Beta can bring the player nearly anywhere in the verse but when it comes to making money it goes nowhere fast. Look at the section for making money without a ship.

Dangers: How much money can you make in a single person camper van?

    Mustang Delta

The Mustang Delta is a combat ship and besides the money making methods available to anyone this ship is combat focused.

    Combat Missions

Take combat missions from the MobiGlas. Call to Arms mission for bonus kills.

Danger: Rockets could cost more than you make. Git gud.

    Anvil Pisces

This small ship is capable of doing cargo running and delivery box missions.

    Delivery Missions & Trade Runs

Combine cargo running with delivery missions. Check your MobiGlas for the delivery routes and check your trade routes with the latest trading apps on the Star Citizen Resources page.

Dangers: Your cargo investment and time.

    Avenger Stalker & Warlock

    Combat Missions

These ships should take the combat missions available to earn aUEC easily.

Danger: That moment when you realize your true skill in combat.

    Avenger Stalker Titan & Renegade

These Avengers with Cargo can make money in combat as well as combining cargo and delivery runs.

If you’re not able to earn aUEC easily with these ships then maybe Star Citizen isn’t the game for you.

    Dangers: Your own ego.

    Arrow

The Arrow is a lethal light fighter that is suited only for combat.

    Combat Missions

Take combat missions in your MobiGlas. Try to combine things like Call to Arms with other missions for extra profit.

Dangers: Rearming missiles can be expensive.

    300i

    The 300i is a strong starting all-rounder.

    Combat Missions

Take combat missions in your MobiGlas. Try to combine things like Call to Arms with other missions for extra profit.

Dangers: Rearming missiles can be expensive.

    Cargo Missions & Delivery Missions

With 8SCU of cargo, the 300i can combine delivery runs with trade routes to make a decent living, effortlessly.

    Dangers: Your investment in cargo.

    315p

The 315p is a great money maker for a solo pilot.

    Cargo Missions & Delivery Missions

With 12SCU of cargo, the 315p can combine delivery runs with trade routes to earn decent profits.

    Dangers: Your investment in cargo.

    325a

The 325a is best suited for combat but can also earn credits with delivery boxes and trading.

    Combat Missions

The 325a is a combat ship that is quite capable. Take combat missions in the MobiGlas.

Dangers: Missiles and repairs can get expensive.

    Cargo Missions & Delivery Missions

With only 4SCU of cargo, the 325a can combine delivery runs with trade routes to additional limited profits.

    Dangers: Your investment in cargo.

    350r

The 350r is a racing ship with a bed. As such one should probably stick to fast delivery box runs to earn quick credits.

    Delivery Missions

Use the 350r’s speed to delivery your boxes slightly faster.

Danger: To yourself and others by going too fast.

    Reliant Kore

The Reliant Kore is quite a large ship and as such it can be a big target in combat. For easy money stick to delivery and cargo running.

    Delivery Missions & Trading

Combine delivery boxes with profitable cargo routes for optimal results.

Dangers: The ship is overly large for its capabilities.

    Reliant Mako & Sen

Ships without their gameplay can be quite poor at earning money in game. See also the section for making money without a ship.

    Delivery Missions

    Delivery mission boxes for profit.

    Danger: Boredom

    Reliant Tana

The most exciting in the Reliant series for making money.

    Combat Missions

Open your MobiGlas and do combat missions. Combine with Call to Arms mission for extra payouts.

Dangers: Large target. Missiles could get expensive.

    Herald

    Delivery Missions

Open your MobiGlas and do delivery box missions.

Dangers: You might travel too fast.

    Gladius

    Combat Missions

Open your MobiGlas and do combat missions.

Dangers: What danger? They should fear you!

    Combat Ships (Any Price)

Fighter ships generally are capable enough to teach a player the ropes of combat in Star Citizen. All combat ships should focus on… well… combat to earn a living.

    Combat Missions

Take combat missions from your MobiGlas. Once you have gotten enough skill and are bored of crushing the NPC enemies then you can start looking into PVP Bounty Missions.

    • Mercenary Missions
    • Bounty Hunting Missions (PVP then PVE)
    • ECN Combat Missions
    • Claim Jumpers
    • Pro Tem Bounty

The Pro Tem bounty contract will start you on the bounty hunting missions that will lead to PVP bounties.

Call To Arms contract will pay you per criminal neutralized based on their CrimeStat.

    Dangers: You could die, repeatedly.

    Cargo Ships $100+

Dedicated freight ships for over $100 should focus on cargo running. Trading requires investment money and familiarity with the routes. If you have no initial capital to invest you will need to do box delivery missions until you have several tens of thousands of aUEC to invest in cargo running.

    Cargo Running

Basically combine trade routes for profitable goods. Check the Star Citizen Resources Page to look at Trade apps to help you find the best routes.

Dangers: You could lose all your money.

    Mining Ships

Mining ships make money by… mining!

    Mining

There are several mining guides available online. The best and most up to date is still Space4Games Mining Guide.

    Dangers: Mistakes go boom!

    Scout Ships

Scout ships are not for making money, they are for scouting. If you really only have a scouting ship then refer to the section for Making Money Without a Ship. At least you will have a fast scout ship to get places.

    Dangers: Your own poor judgement.

    Exploration Ships

Exploration ships generally have a fair amount of cargo space in order to bring back things found while exploring.

Unless you have a large exploration ship with a lot of cargo space like a Carrack then:

Combine Cargo Running and Delivery Missions

By taking box delivery missions and finding optimal trade routes to the same locations exploration ships above $100 are easily capable of earning good income.

Dangers: You could lose your cargo and time without discovering anything.

    Racing Ships (Excluding 350r)

So all you have with a quantum drive is a single-seater racing ship? And you still need to make money fast you say? Well with your fast ship you can use it to do the missions for people who have no ship.

Dangers: You bought your ship too fast if this is your only ship capable of earning aUEC.

General Tips For All Money Grubbers

If you want to make cash faster always consider the following:

    • Upgrade your quantum drive – This will greatly reduce travel time!
    • Plan your routes ahead – This will save running out of fuel or routing problems!
    • Avoid missions on planets! – Going in and out of atmosphere takes more time
    • Check your time – Keep track of how long it takes you to make money with each method
    • Combine missions / trading routes
    • Check the server stability before start

The New Launcher Version 1.3.0 is required for Star Citizen PTU and Live.

To check if your launcher is the latest version (v.1.3.0) open the Star Citizen Launcher and check the version in the bottom right.

Steps to upgrading to the new launcher (for a fresh install go straight to step 2):

    1. Uninstall the old RSI Launcher (not the game just the launcher)
    2. Install the new Launcher you downloaded from the official RSI website.

    Learning To Fly

While Roberts Space Industries official website offers tutorials, what is presented for new players is not comprehensive enough and players should always take time to practice in the simulator before entering the Persistent Universe.

View the Official How To Fly guide from RSI.

    Keys to learning to fly:

    • Start off practicing in Arena Commander Free Flight Mode (Single player or Multi Player)
    • Practice in the Arena Commander Racing modes (Single Player recommended)

    Landing Information

Landing on landing pads and in hangars requires that pilots first request landing permission. This can be done via the ship’s MFD panels (Hold F and click to interact) or by opening the contacts list in MobiGlas (F11).

If you have a crime stat landing permission will be denied at many locations in Stanton. Landing without requesting permission on a pad or hangar will incur fines and possibly a crime rating.

    Content in Alpha 3.7

Star Citizen Alpha 3.7 offers significant amounts of gameplay while still only being a tiny fraction of what is eventually planned for Star Citizen. While the final vision describes hundreds of star systems to explore the current Alpha takes place in the Stanton System only. Even so, this offers testers with more gameplay than many released games, not to mention one of the biggest seamless play areas of any game.

Despite the bugs caused by the game still being under construction, many hours of entertainment can be had. The amount of things to do in game is too long for a full list for the purpose of this article but here are some of the options. Even though credits are reset periodically during Star Citizen Alpha, it can still be fun to see how much can be accumulated before each reset.

    Making Money In Alpha 3.7

There are several ways that players can earn in game credits (aUEC) while play testing Star Citizen Alpha. One player even being able to go from an Aurora starter ship all the way to purchasing in game a Anvil Arrow relatively swiftly (Reddit link).

Since Star Citizen is a sandbox game it is possibly to earn your way without using any of the scripted on-rails missions.

Let’s look at some of the ways to make money in Star Citizen Alpha 3.7:

    Scripted missions:

    • Cargo Delivery
    • Investigation
    • Combat (pirate or merc)
    • Maintenance

    Sandbox:

    • Mining
    • Harvesting
    • Cargo running
    • Theft and sale of illicit goods at mission outposts
    • Space uber driver

The most profitable missions for beginners are cargo delivery or combat assistance. This is where choosing the Starter Ship that is best for you is important. Ships like the Mustang Alpha or the Aurora MR are good for cargo delivery, ships like the Arrow is geared for combat.

    Law System in Alpha 3.7

Alpha 3.6 brought with it the Law System and each area of space has different legal rules players must comply with or risk the consequences.

    Jurisdictions available in Alpha 3.7:

    • Crusader Industries
    • UEE
    • People’s Alliance (Levski)*

*About Levksi: Levski is supposed to be located in the Nyx system which is several jumps away from Stanton system. As of Alpha 3.7 Levski (Delamar) is still temporarily in Stanton system for testing.

    Law System Sources:

In Game Journal With Jurisdiction Info (In Game). This can be accedes via the MobiGlas and going to the “Journal” option.

Removing Crime Rating in Alpha 3.7

Gaining a crime rating can happen very easily for new players. Since a criminal rating even as low as 1 can influence what pads players can land on and the availability of missions it is extremely important for new players to know how to clear their rating.

The following methods can be used in Alpha 3.7 to reset your rating:

    • Landing at Lorville (without permission) and being shot by Crusader Security guards
    • Hacking a UEE terminal to reset the archive
    • Being killed by a security patrol in space

Clearing Crime Stat by being shot by Crusader Security

Perhaps the easiest option to reset the crime rating in Alpha 3.7 is to simply land at Lorville and then allow the Crusader Security guards to kill you. Crusader Security enforce he law very severely and will shoot even level 1 players on sight.

Since you cannot request landing permission at Lorville if you have any Crime Stat rating, the easy option is to land near one of the external gates and walking into the city. No fly zones prevent players from landing too close to the gates. Once near or in the city Crusader Security will enforce the law by shooting the player to death. This will reset crime stat rating.

    Clearing Crime Stat by Hacking

Another option to clear Crime Stat is to either purchase or find a Crypto Key and then proceed to one of the UEE terminals that can be hacked. Currently there are at least two such terminals. One is located at Security Post Kareah and the other is located in a bunker on Hurston. Both of these locations are inhabited by NPCs who will shoot on sight.

Crypto Keys can be purchased at the following locations:

    • Accorp Area 18 – Center Mass
    • Grim Hex – Arcade

A free Crypto Key can also be found by accepting one of the mercenary missions. In the mission description instructions can be found how to acquire the Crypto Key for free.

Once you have a Crypto Key the next step is to go to one of the two known Security Terminals:

    • Security Post Kareah (Cellin – Crusader)
    • Security Depot Hurston 1 – (Hurston)

Black Market Economy in Alpha 3.7

In Alpha 3.6 the Black Market economy was enhanced and in 3.7 continues to be refined. One of the sandbox ways of making money is to run cargo of illicit goods. Illicit goods can be found at many outposts. Websites to find ideal cargo routes can be found on the Star Citizen Resources page.

Players can take missions to the secret drug labs but after the missions have been completed the drug lab locations will no longer be available. As such it is important for players to find alternative methods of “remembering” how to reach these locations.

Black Market Economy is recommended for advanced players and not for beginners.

    Logging Out And Persistance

    Persistence of Items

Between sessions not everything persists as of Alpha 3.7.1. Things that do not persist:

    • Small arms gained in FPS combat from NPCs or players
    • Missions accepted via the MobiGlas will also not resume upon loading

What kind of computer do I need to play Star Citizen?

Important Notice: Star Citizen is constantly growing and these specs will be out of date so do your own research always.

Star Citizen aims to push the boundaries of what is technically possible in a 3D virtual universe. As such it requires as good a gaming PC as you can get your hands on.

For a premium experience you will want:

    Operating SystemWindows 11 (or 10)
    CPULate generation fast cores
    GPU12GB+ VRAM
    RAM32GB+
    Storage2TB SSD or NVME / M.2
    InternetBroadband
    Screen Resolution4K

What is the minimum spec computer that can run Star Citizen?

Please visit the official telemetry page to see how your system might perform: robertsspaceindustries.com/telemetry

How much drive space is required to install and run Star Citizen?

Star Citizen is currently in active development and the drive space required to install the game is constantly increasing. Currently playtesters will need at least 100 GB free for the LIVE version of the game and double that if you want to also have the TEST Universe playable (when those versions are running. Additionally, some virtual memory space is also required.

Star Citizen often has several versions of the game running at once, sometimes 3 or 4. This means you ideally want 4 x 100 GB free for Star Citizen or more. 2TB+ is recommended.

    Note to Laptop users

These specifications assume a desktop computer. For laptop devices you might need better specs for CPU, GPU and RAM.

You will need a gaming laptop that will give you more options in terms of performance settings as well as keyboard layout. Star Citizen requires a lot of keys!

    Star Citizen Digital Game Package

The actual “game” you purchase to play Star Citizen is the Star Citizen Digital Download. The yellow rectangle in the image below shows what should be displayed to make sure you are buying access to the Star Citizen multiplayer universe game which includes access to the alpha.

Game packages can be found on the official Roberts Space Industries website in the Pledge Store.

Make sure you have a game package as there are also ships for sale that do not come with the game.

    Do I need Squadron 42?

Squadron 42 is the single player game. While it is not required to play Star Citizen anyone thinking to fund at this stage should probably also consider backing Squadron 42. It’s also worth noting that Squadron 42 should release commercially significantly earlier than Star Citizen. See our release date estimates.

Why is Squadron 42 Not For Sale?

Many laws have changed during Star Citizen’s decade of development. One of those laws is that people can no longer sell unreleased products (hype and dreams). Squadron is not for sale until it is ready. Even though this law may not apply everywhere it applies in jurisdictions affecting Star Citizen. This is outside the scope of this website but it is important to mention since Squadron 42 is not for sale at this time anymore until it is finished.

  • Should You Buy Star Citizen?

    Should You Buy Star Citizen?

Star Citizen is arguably the most ambitious game in video gaming history. It is the largest Kickstarter video game project to date raising over $500 Million – The crowdfunding record for a video game is based on the trust of backers in Chris Roberts – the creator of Wing Commander, Strike Commander, Wing Commander Privateer and Freelancer.

The scope and scale of what Star Citizen is poised to become, is truly epic. Planned features include:

    • Persistent Universe with ≈100+ star systems to explore
    • Sandbox Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO)
    • VR Support
    • FOIP (Face over IP)
    • Voice Chat
    • Superb Graphics
    • Physics Engine
    • Space Flight Simulation
    • First Person Shooter
    • 9:1 AI NPC players to Human Players
    • Full In Game Economy
    • Crafted Story
    • Alien Races with unique languages
    • Hand crafted locations and environments
    • Procedurally generated planets
    • Gigantic space ships!
    • Many professions to choose from (Military, piracy, bounty hunting, exploration, and many more)
    • Organization / Guild support
    • Seamless transitions from planetside to space
    • Character ageing & permadeath
    • Outpost and base construction
    • Racing
    • Much much more!

    Skill Based MMO (No leveling!)

Ever wanted to play an MMO where your real skills and knowledge were what determined whether or not you defeated your enemy? Star Citizen has no player character leveling system. None. Your first person shooter and piloting skills determine whether you are better than your opponents. To progress you will need to outplay and out-think the AI and human players.

    Player Lives Matter

“If there’s no challenge and no chance to lose, nobody wants to play the game.” – Unknown human proverb

In Star Citizen death plays a very imporatnt role to the feel of realism. If you dislike how games allow players to respawn with minimal or no cost and you think character death should be meaningful to the story line of the MMO, then Star Cizen’s death mechanic may be for you.

Why Should I Buy Star Citizen Now?

Currently the game is in development and has been since 2011 (source). The project has ballooned in both scope and funding since then. The Star Citizen Kickstarter campaign began in 2013 which is the date that most backers use as the start date for development (a backer is someone who has paid to fund this project with their money).

So after several years more than a decade in development and with so many people already pledging over $440M to the game why should you also put your hard earned cash into Star Citizen?

So Should I Buy Star Citizen?

The answer is simple, albeit unsatisfactory: It depends.

If you want to help with testing the game and / or offer your support to help with development then you should consider backing if you believe in Chris Roberts’ vision to make a living and breathing universe of a space sim. Be warned, Star Citizen will release probably after 2024 (possibly 2030!) or even later – no one knows. The author of this article backed to see video gaming taken to new levels and to support space sims 🙂

However, if you’re on the fence and would rather play a finished game then you probably should not be buying the game until it is launched. That said, it is also important to note that if you have the money now and are happy to wait several many more years until release, then purchasing the game might make financial sense since the basic starter package that comes with a ship, 3 month insurance and the single and multiplayer games is likely to continue to increase in price over time.

Originally you could buy the starter package with both single and multiplayer games for about $25*, then this went up to about $35* and it is now currently approximately $45* for the ship with either the single or multiplayer game and $65* for the ship plus both games (Squadron 42 and Star Citizen). With the community expecting the prices of the single and multiplayer game to perhaps end up being $60 each it might be worth purchasing now for three good reasons:

    1. You get to purchase the game cheaper than when it is released (post Beta)
    2. You get to test the game while it is in development (optional)
    3. You can learn to play the game. Star Citizen is a skill based game where the knowledge and skills of each player will contribute to how well they do in the universe. A bad pilot will be crashing his ship or dying in otherwise easy to win dogfights. Crashing on takeoff after loading your ship with precious cargo on day one will leave you wanting to have spent the time learning the game without permanent consequences.

*Note: Prices can and do vary across regions due to taxes.

Why should I not back this project?

There are too many reasons to list here why you should NOT back Star Citizen during Alpha development.

    Here are some:

    • The game might never be finished. Development is taking what seems like forever
    • The game is extremely buggy and might even break your PC while in development
    • False hopes. Often the game can provide a sense of being done soon which can be highly misleading and always ends up in dissapointment
    • The game is not easy to get started and offers no in-game tutorial
    • Too many keys!
    • Needs keyboard and mouse to play – while in Alpha all gameplay cannot be controlled solely with a gamepad
    • Very complex game
    • No PVP slider and almost no safe zones (It’s a dangerous universe)
    • The game is currently shallow
    • The game is far from complete (see Star Citizen & Squadron 42 feature completion)
    • Frustration from any of the above
    • The project could fail

    CIG: Doing the impossible

Star Citizen is aiming to have the following features:

    • Seamless universe with no loading screens (after the initial loading of the game)
    • From first person on the planet to getting behind the controls of your ship to flying into space to landing on a moon to getting out of your ship – all without loading screens
    • Jaw dropping graphics
    • FPS, spaceship, atmospheric and vehicular combat
    • Brought to you by the Chris Roberts, the visionary behind Wing Commander, Strike Commander and Freelancer
    • Explore ≈100+ star systems in a living breathing universe
    • Pilot and help crew giant space ships 100s to 1000s of meters (300 to 3000 feet) long (yes these aren’t typos)
    • Massively multiplayer living breathing universe with 9:1 AI to player characters

    Star Citizen Videos

If you are still on the fence about buying the game perhaps these points, images and videos will convince you.

All video is in-game engine footage (yes this is what Star Citizen gameplay looks like – not just the cut-scenes like so many other games). Please note that what is currently Testable / Playable is only a small fraction of what is planned. For a rough idea of overall project completion please view our article on Star Citizen Completion Features Percentage.

What’s Playable Now in Star Citizen?

    • Multiplayer Persistent Universe (PU – 80 to 150 players per server)
    • Single Player and Multiplayer Space flight simulator called Arena Commander
    • Multiplayer first person shooter (FPS) combat simulator called Star Marine

    The Persistent Universe (PU)

The persistent universe in Star Citizen is where the “real” Star Citizen game will take place. Inside the game there are simulation pods where players will be able to access simulations to practice vehicle and on foot combat without risking items or in-game credits (known as UEC) in the Persistent Universe.

Currently available for testers is part of the Stanton System with:

    • 4 Planets (Crusader, Hurston, ArcCorp and MicroTech)
    • 12 Moons (3 around Crusader, 4 around Hurston, 2 around ArcCorp and 3 around Microtech)
    • Many caves
    • Space Stations
    • Asteroid Fields
    • Ground outposts
    • Harvestables
    • Mining (First person, vehicle and ship)
    • Bounty Hunting (PVP and PVE)
    • Cargo Hauling
    • Over 100 ships and vehicles
    • 1 Prison

    FPS And Flight combat simulators

The simulator pod in the universe allows you to access simulation games in Electronic Access. The first person shooter is called Star Marine and the flight simulator is called Arena Commander.

Star Marine allows players to shoot it out in maps that have both gravity and non gravity combat. Arena Commander allows players to test the flight mechanics of their ships both peacefully and in combat. Credits can be earned in the simulator called REC (Rental Equipment Credits) and they can be used to purchase ships and items to test them out. This is a great way for players to practice their skills and research items or ships they are interested in without risking their Persistent Universe account.

If you are thinking of starting an account it is important to note that credits in Star Citizen are used to purchase items and pay in game fees. A starter Aurora or Mustang Package only comes with 1000 UEC and by using a referral code you will be able to receive an extra 5000 UEC. This can mean the difference between starting off with 1000 UEC or 6000 UEC (1000 + 5000 referral bonus) – a 600% increase. By using a referral code you will be able to start with up to 6x more UEC than someone who purchased the same game package without using the referral code. If you’re interested in buying Star Citizen please visit the referral code page.

  • Mustang Alpha VS Aurora MR – Which One Should I Buy?

Mustang Alpha VS Aurora MR – Which One Should I Buy?

    Updated: 20 November 2023

    VS

Need to know what starter package is better between the Aurora MR and the Mustang Alpha? Currently the most affordable options for combo packages (that come with both Star Citizen and Squadron 42) are the Aurora MR and the Mustang Alpha. While the ship packages are identically priced there are many differences between the ships themselves. This article will help you decide which ship suits your game style and objectives best.

    Engines & Speed

Primary Engines The Aurora MR has one size Small main thruster while the Mustang Alpha can have two main thrusters of the same size. This makes the Mustang Alpha a theoretically faster and also more agile ship. Winner: Mustang Alpha

    Power Plant

Power in Star Citizen provides energy to systems such as shields and weapons. There is no significant difference between the power ability of both ships as they both feature size 1 power plants. Winner: Draw

    Weapons

Ship weapons are an important part of the game. The universe can be very perilous and having bigger guns helps. The Aurora MR comes with 4 size 1 fixed weapon mounts while the Mustang Alpha comes with 2x size 1 weapons but also with an unmanned turret which comes with 2x size 2 weapons for a total of 4 weapons (Two size 2 and two size 1).  Winner: Mustang Alpha. (Please note this information has changed during Star Citizen Alpha and could change again).

    Missiles

The Aurora MR comes with a pylon mount size 2 for missiles while the Mustang Alpha has no missile mounts. This gives the Aurora MR the ability to carry 1x size 2 missile or 2x size 1 missiles. Winner: Aurora MR

    Shields

Shields are also extremely important and both ships have size 1 shield generators. Winner: Draw

    Armor

The Aurora MR is tanky and sacrifices speed and maneuverability for stronger armor. The stylish Mustang Alpha is built with “ultralight alloys” and therefore sacrifices armor for additional speed and maneuverability. Winner: Aurora MR

    Cargo

Are you planning on being a space trader?  Both the Aurora MR and the Mustang Alpha hold small amounts of cargo.

The Aurora MR can carry 3 Standard Cargo Units (SCU) of cargo while the Mustang Alpha can carry 4 SCU.

The Mustang Alpha can carry mission boxes in the 4  SCU cargo compartment located on the belly of the ship which can be accessed via a button at the rear. This means the Mustang Alpha is better with cargo.

    Winner: Mustang Alpha

    Jump Drive

Both the Mustang Alpha and the Aurora MR come equipped with Quantum drives as standard. Additionally it was mentioned that neither the Alpha nor the Aurora MR would come with Jump drives. Quantum drives can be turned into Jump drives but not all Quantum drives are jump capable. At some point on the RSI website the Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha specifications changed to show that both ships have a Small size jump drive installed. While this seems to be in flux what seems clear is that both ships will either come with or without a jump drive as standard but both will be able to upgrade their quantum drives if they don’t already have the Jump Drive installed. Winner: Draw

    Bed

Ship beds in Star Citizen serve as log out locations allowing the player to log out in the ship instead of having to return to a space station or other habitable location. This means the Aurora MR has a significant advantage allowing players to log out in remote locations. Winner: Aurora MR

Conclusion: What Starter Ship Is Better Aurora MR vs Mustang Alpha?

If we tally the above we get:

    • Engines & Speed: Mustang Alpha
    • Power Plant: Draw
    • Weapons: Mustang Alpha
    • Missiles: Aurora MR
    • Armor: Aurora MR
    • Cargo: Mustang Alpha
    • Jump Drive: Draw
    • Bed: Aurora MR

There’s very little difference between these two ships on paper. If you want a fast ship to dart around the verse then the Mustang Alpha is a better choice. If you want something slower but with the option for a bed  logout and a bit more capable of defending itself then the Aurora MR is your ship. Both the Aurora MR package and the Mustang Alpha package come with starting in game currency of 1000 UEC. (You can get an extra 5000 UEC by using a referral code).

    Aurora Commercial

    New Mustang Commercial

Other game packages above the Starter Ships start from about $60* for the Anvil C8X Pisces and come with Star Citizen but not Squadron 42 (unless during promotions and special “sales” events).

    Some other options include:

Anvil C8X Pisces Starter Pack $60
    Origin 100i Package $65*
    Avenger Tiitan Package $75*
    Cutlass Black: $125*
    Hornet F7C: $125*
    Freelancer: $125*
    Constellation Andromeda: $275*

*prices do not include VAT and are taken at the time of writing this article.

Please note that purchasing a game package with a ship more expensive than the Starter packages does not make a better gaming experience. The game is intended to be played by starting from the “starter” ships and working your way up (a la GTA).

    Bonus Content : Cockpit View

The Mustang Alpha is one of the ships with the best cockpit view. The Aurora MR, on the other hand, has some strutts in the cockpit that nerf the view somewhat. Click on the image below to enlarge. Winner: Mustang Alpha

Questions & Answers About The Aurora MR & Mustang Alpha

Which Starter Package Is Better – Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha?

For new players about to start on the Star Citizen Alpha journey, the Aurora MR game Package is currently a better option than the Mustang Alpha. This is because the Aurora MR can do delivery box missions, has a bed for logging out, and can carry more than one person.

Are The Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha Good At Making Money (aUEC)?

Both ships are capable of earning money in Star Citizen in various ways. These short range ships are enough to get you started on your journey among the stars.

Further reading: Making money easily for beginners

Can the Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha Make Money Via Cargo Running?

The Aurora MR features a cargo capacity of 3 SCU while the Mustang Alpha features a cargo capacity of 4 SCU. Via illicit cargo runs (currently the most profitable) sometimes it is possible to generate several thousand aUEC via optimal cargo runs.

This means that the Mustang Alpha is capable of earning 33% more per cargo run than the Aurora MR.

Even so this still means that the earning curve is quite steep with the Aurora MR and a third less steep with the Mustang Alpha. Players looking to start with Cargo Running should consider ships with significantly more cargo capacity such as the Avenger Titan or Cutlass Black. Especially if the goal is to quickly progress in economic potential.

Is It Viable To Buy Other Ships In Game With The Aurora Mr or Mustang Alpha?

At this time, with player balances being wiped every 3 months or less, it is not possible to earn bigger ships by purchasing them in game unless players spend many hours per week grinding. This makes these ships difficult to start with if the goal is to earn other ships in game quickly. This seems to be the intended progression so players buying the cheapest starter packs need to be aware that it is the steepest starting option in terms of progression.

Renting Ships In Star Citizen Alpha

Certain ships in Star Citizen can be rented for 1, 3, 7 and 30 days. Rented ships cannot be customized. See the Alpha PTU 3.8.1c patch notes.

Is It Possible To Upgrade The Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha To Other Ships In Game? (Star Citizen Alpha)

At this time it is not possible to upgrade a ship in game to another ship. Eventually players will be able to trade in their ships and purchase other ships but during early alpha this is not currently in the game yet. This means that players starting with the Mustang Alpha or Aurora MR need to currently purchase new ships outright in game which means that during Star Citizen Alpha players starting with these two ships need to buy new ships in game instead of trading in their current ship. The cost for doing this is quite prohibitive and therefore the answer to this question is no for all but the most dedicated (in terms of grind) of players.

Again, during Star Citizen Alpha it is far cheaper to rent ships. Rented ships can be customized and the customizations persist throughout the duration of the rental.

Who Should Buy The Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha Stater Packs?

These packs are ideal for players wishing to:

    • Spend the least to start playtesting the Star Citizen Alpha
    • Plan to play few hours every 3 month patch season
    • Can rely on their org / friends to use more expensive ships
    • Prefer to play with the basic starter ships as a form of “hard mode”
    • Happy to wait for development until late Beta or final release and don’t plan to play frequently during Star Citizen Alpha

More serious players who plan to spend many hours during Star Citizen Alpha should look to start with more expensive ships such as the Avenger Titan or Cutlass Black – ships capable of earning more money and having a higher chance of mission completion.
